Fabolous, whose real name is John David Jackson, is a hip hop artist hailing from Brooklyn, New York who is also a rapper, songwriter, actor, and record producer. He broke into the music industry back in 2001 with the release of his first studio album and since then has gone on to release four more albums.
Some of his hit songs include “Make Me Better,” “My Time,” “Throw It in the Bag,” and “Breathe.” His sixth album entitled Laso’s Way 2: Rise to Power is scheduled to be released in June of 2013. Fabolous has been nominated for several awards over the years including Grammys, Teen Choice Awards, and American Music Awards. Besides that, Fabolous also released his own clothing line in 2006.
The song “Ready” comes from Fabolous’s upcoming album Laso’s Way 2. It was the first single released from that album in January of 2013 from Def Jam and Desert Storm Records. The song was written by Fabolous, Chris Brown, Andrew Harr, Sean Davidson, Andre Davidson, and Jermaine Jackson. Chris Brown also adds his vocals to the song and appears in the music video. The music video was directed by TAJ and produced by Tara Razavi. It was filmed in both Malibu, California and the Dominican Republic. The video also features Violeta Castillo.
The music video for “Ready” starts off feeling like a film. An airplane is seen flying overhead with a bird’s eye view of the ocean and a beach. The credits rolls like the opening to a movie and Fabolous is seen in a hotel room on his laptop computer. Chris Brown also appears outside in front of the gorgeous ocean scene. Back in the room, a maid enters Fabolous’s room to serve him breakfast. The two flirt while another maid looks on with concern who is supposedly the maid’s mother.
Later, Fabolous leaves his watch on a table outside for the girl to find. She picks it up and leaves it for him with a note. Fabolous finds the home of the maid and drops a note under her door. The maid finds the note. She meets him later on wearing an elegant dress for a special private dinner on the beach. The next morning the girl wakes up to find a passport for her in Fabolous’s room but then leaves. Fabolous dejectedly makes his way to his car to go to the airport and finds the girl in the backseat.
The song “Ready” is a song where the singers continuously wonder if their girl is “ready” for love and it is about getting in the mood. Chris Brown sings about how he and his girl don’t need a bed and they “don’t need to set the mood” because both him and her are “ready.” Fabolous raps about the same thing, about being “dressed appropriately” but asking, “is you ready though?”
