Put together the British pop style of Jessie J, Ariana Grande’s soft R&B and Nicki Minaj’s rapping and the result will be a catchy song for summer, stirring everybody to dance and have a good time. The joint single “Bang Bang” is an urban song, creating an optimistic impression while hearing it for the first time.
Besides the lyrics inviting to dance, “Bang Bang” draws the attention through the background, every time a fresh one. The video starts with Jessie J, descending of a red car, dressed in a black outfit reminding of the 1970s, while Nicki Minaj gets into a helicopter, wearing a glamorous black dress.
Ariana Grande is the last one to be displayed, since she isn’t ready for the party, still trying different accessories, in order to look great. Once the party is started, the three stars appear on the scene, which is the roof of a skyscraper. Nicki Minaj wears a mostly yellow outfit, Jessie J a silver dress, while Ariana Grande a pink outfit. Magically, the streets of the metropolis turned pink, meaning that the good time of the artists was able to persuade everybody to have fun.
“Bang Bang” will be included on Jessie J’s third album, that will be released this autumn. In addition, the song also appeared on Ariana Grande’s second album entitled “My Everything”, while Nicki Minaj didn’t include it on none of her albums. “Bang Bang” was released on July 29, being a mixture of pop, R&B and hip hop.
The song was written by Savan Kotecha, Onika Maraj, Max Martin and Rickard Göranson, who have previously created for the three artists successful songs, such as “Problem” (Ariana Grande) or “Domino” (Jessie J) or “Masquerade” (Nicki Minaj). Max Martin and Rickard Göranson were its producers, known for their passion in mixing musical styles. Originally, “Bang Bang” was created for Jessie J, but hearing her in the studio, the producer had the sudden idea to ask Ariana Grande to support the song. In the end, their voices were counterbalanced by Nicki Minaj’s rapping parts.
“Bang Bang” was directed by Hanna Lux Davis, a young American director famous for this collaboration with Delta Goodrem (“Dancing with a Broken Heart”), Jason Derulo (“Marry Me”) or Cher Lloyd (“With Ur Love”). “Bang Bang” was launched on August 25, 2014, a month later after the release of the song. In the case of the three artists, she highlighted their sensuality: Ariana Grande’s was suggested to wear a white outfit, stressing her innocent appearance; Jessie J wore a mixture of red and black, revealing her rebellious attitude, while Nicki Minaj didn’t forget her passion for dangerous animals, wearing an animal print outfit.
