Queen of California by John Mayer

This is a lovely song with an underlining meaning that is sure to make you ponder for hours on end. However, the most entertaining feature about this song may just be the incredibly unique video that accompanies it. Directed by Sam Jones, this is a video that breaks the mold and helps reveal Mayor in a new light, it is certainly worth a few minutes of your time. It is shot in some unique locations, a portion of which is filmed in the same building used to create the space shuttle.
The song itself has an interesting meaning, as it is not what you would assume it is about judging on the title alone. This song is Mayor’s way of expressing his desire to be different from the typical “superstar.” Fearful of becoming a part of the stereotypes that come with a typical Hollywood celebrity, Mayor came out with this song and delivered a symbolic message that he would not settle for that. It is a nice song with a cool rhythm that sends out a specific message of peace and change.
The video itself is a unique spectacle of good mood visuals that make for an eye-catching view that will leave you in amazement. It features Mayor casually strolling through a season changing forest, rainy streets, a giant studio room, a city in full parade and it comes to a close with his standing on a film set as it falls apart around him.
The video and lyrics correspond nicely as Mayor displays his inner cowboy. Overall the technology that is put on display in this video is amazing and should be praised through and through. Mayor and Jones collaboration on this project has produced magic and a music video that will certainly be well remembered for a very long time. Mayor journeys through time and a variety of terrain to symbolically unleash a unique message that resonates with many.
