Love ‘Em All by K. Michelle
‘Love ‘Em All’ is a R&B song, highlighting the powerful voice of K. Michelle, as a promising revelation among R&B and soul singers in USA. Adopting outfits similar to Kim Kardashian, changing the color of her hair, the artist managed to stir the interest of music industry, through an extremely sincere song about the her attitude in the case of relationships and the criticism she received for her turbulent private life.
The video debuts with K. Michelle, red-haired, in a dark and old hall, performing an individual dance chair. While she smashes it to the wall, as a sign of her liberation, the background is radically changed, the artist being transferred to a bright scene, where the black-haired K. Michelle dances, accompanied by dancers, imitating her sensual movements, among black mannequins in a silver outfit with metallic studs. The static mannequins are representations of the men in her life, having no face, since they weren’t wise enough to make her stay focused in a long-term relationship.
The final scene is a return to a darker background, simulating the scene of a disco hall, where K. Michelle is displayed in a static position, sitting on a white chair similar to a queen’s throne. As a cabaret diva, K. Michelle dances on a stage crowded with chairs, that magically move when she enters. She applauds to the electric R&B rhythm of the song, glancing directly to the audience, suggesting that she is confident about feelings.
‘Love ‘Em All’ is K. Michelle’s leading single, promoting her second album studio ‘Anybody Wanna Buy A Heart?’. The R&B song with pop influence was released on September 2014, following the previous success registered with ‘Can’t Raise A Man’. The song was written by the artist, Shea Taylor and Bianca Atterberry, collaborating with J. Cole, Calvin Harris, Big Sean or Rita Ora, Shakira or Kylie Minogue. Love Em All was mastered by by Shea Taylor, Lil Ronnie and B.A.M, previously producing songs for Usher, Mary J. Blige, Ciara or R. Kelly.
The video of ‘Love ‘Em All was launched in November 2014, inspired by K. Michelle’s reality show, suggestively named ‘K. Michelle: My Life’. The scenario of the video presents K. Michelle in individual scenes as performing a dance on a chair or singing on a throne, proudly displaying her tattoos, marking her rebellious attitude, such as ‘Born to sing’ on one of her hips. The director of the unconventional video is Idris Elba, who has previously created for K. Michelle ‘Rebellious Soul: The Musical’, as well as her reality show.
