Love Somebody by Maroon 5
In May 2013, Maroon 5 released their new single Love Somebody. The single has been lifted from the band’s Hands all Over album, which was originally on sale from 2010. Although the video was leaked on the internet the day before it was officially released, it is still expected to become a commercial success, with plenty of sales and radio airplay expected.
The single, Love Somebody was written by the lead singer, Adam Levine and band member Nathan Mott. The official video for the single was recorded in early January 2013 and was directed by Richard Lee.
Love Somebody combines a mixture of rock, pop and dance style musical genres. The video was filmed in a studio where some clever techniques were used to combine the background with the artist’s parts of the body and begins with lead singer Adam Levine beginning to sing opening lines with just a mouth and chin exposed. Furthermore, the mouth and chin appear to be coated in some form of milk or paint substance. During these excerpts the body appears to be self-massaged in various places, such as the shoulders, calves, ankles, neck and forehead. It is when these moments of massage take place that the skin is exposed, in a manner alike an invisible person becoming visible once more, because of the application of a cream.
Throughout the early stages of the video various band members are seen wearing copious amounts of paint against a white background. A model is also featured rubbing some of the paint into her calves where suddenly the ba[tentblogger-youtube MU8B4XDI3Uw]cks of her legs become exposed to the camera. The lead singer Adam is seen sat on a chair while caressing the body of a video actress by rubbing in further amounts of paint on her shoulders, stomach and side of her face.
Slowly but surely as the video progresses, more of the paint is applied and other band members become exposed to the camera, as are their instruments then revealed and parts of clothing and body are seen by the viewer. The lead singer Adam continues to caress and offer tender, loving moments to the model that dances throughout and returns her affections towards Levine.
The drummer and guitarist are also spotted playing their instruments while paint is slowly exposing parts of the bass drum, snare and hi-hat parts of the percussion set up. The guitar slowly begins to unravel parts of its neck and various frets when paint is added. Once full exposure is revealed, the lead singer then rubs the model away until she disappears entirely.
