Jealous by Nick Jonas
As solo singer, Nick Jonas drew the attention of music lovers through “Chains”, a pop ballad released in July 2014.
His second single, that will be included on the upcoming studio album, is unexpectedly named “Jealous”, being the story of a man jealous on every man getting closer to his beautiful girlfriend.
Since the theme is a controversial one, as everybody can perceive jealously from a different perspective, the director of the video creates several scenes for Nick Jonas and his girlfriend, in order to express the complexity of their relationship.
They are progressively changing role plays, for example he is a lonely runner and she is a sexy violinist playing for him, he is a box fighter and she is a star cinema, he is a basketball player and she is a party animator, he is a taxi driver and she is the lover of a Wall Street banker.
In every situation, he longs for her love, but he feels he isn’t good enough for her, as consequence jealously is his reaction towards the men approaching the beautiful woman.
The video debuts in an old garage, where unused TVs magically turn on, Nick Jonas being the main character of their story. He is running on a highway, he is climbing a cliff and the word “gratitude” appears in all contexts, since this is what he expects from his beloved. Walking in the quest of a sense of his feelings, the image of his girlfriend is present in his thoughts: she is a sexy violinist or a star cinema, admired by all men around her. In order to draw her attention, Nick Jonas is always ready to do something extraordinary to impress her such as training as a boxer or driving a taxi, in order to be closer to her.
If their relationship is obvious, in the video appear few images that aren’t very relevant such as an old lady playing the piano alone or along with the artist. Similarly, isn’t very obvious why Nick Jonas should play basketball, in order to impress his girlfriend, but these unexpected images contribute to the uniqueness of the video.
“Jealous” was released on 7 September 2014, being written by the singer himself, Nolan Lambroza and Simon Wilcow. Sir Nolan, a recurrent collaborator of Christina Aguilera and Pitbull, mastered the song.
The video, accompanying “Jealous”, was directed by Peter Tunney, a famous art designer. Olivia Culpo, the beautiful violinist playing the role of Nick Jonas’ girlfriend is a former Miss USA, drawing the attention of viewers through her beauty.
