Chasing The Sun by The Wanted
The music video for Chasing the Sun by The Wanted was filmed to coincide with the release of the single, found on their eponymous 2012 EP. The song is about cutting loose and enjoying every last minute of nightlife—that is, they party for so long that they seem to chase the sun. The video is a playful and sexy take on this concept, and it was directed by Director X, a man who also directed three other music videos for The Wanted. It was filmed on the rooftop of the Rosslyn Hotel in Los Angeles, as well as some unknown clubs, sometime in early 2012. The video stars all five members of the band, five beautiful women, and various extras.
The video begins with The Wanted standing on the roof of a building late at night, giving the scene a blue, ethereal feel. This shot is interspersed with shots of the group getting ready for a night out. One band member leans against a car outside, encountering a seductive woman. Smiling, she shows him a tattoo on her arm of the sun. He shakes his hand, shocked, as the woman disappears and the same tattoo appears on his palm. We see the band driving through a tunnel on their way to a club, where they party, drink and laugh with a group of people. They sing along with their song, raising their glasses and dancing on the bar, obviously overjoyed.
In the club, the other four members of The Wanted meet equally beautiful women, all of whom have the same tattoo on their arm, leg, or stomach. Each band member is branded with the same tattoo on his hand, and we see the first woman from earlier in the video, smiling knowingly. The five men each find their women, and they begin to walk through the city arm-in-arm, smiling and talking. These slow-motion shots are intercut with shots of the five men singing on the roof, still in the dark.
The group of ten make it to a private after-hours club, where each couple begins to slowly kiss. The women, however, sink their teeth into their men—they’re vampires! Each man is bitten, but the video ends with them walking out of the club in the morning, and on the rooftop in the daylight. Chasing the Sun by The Wanted ends with the group finally having found the sun.
