See You Again ft. Charlie Puth by Wiz Khalifa
‘See You Again’ is a tribute to Paul Walker, the actor interpreting Brian O’Conner in the series ‘Fast and Furious’. The pop ballad, featuring soul and hip hop influence, expresses the artists’ regrets for the premature disappearance of the star. As its title indicates, the song is a promise that fans will see Paul Walker again, through the scenes shot before his car accident.
‘See You Again’ starts with the image of a sunrise, at the seaside, while Wiz Khalifa is walking alone on a highway and Charlie Puth performs his pop fragment at piano. As the character displayed by Paul Walker was a passionate driver, his favorite car is next to the piano.
The video presents scenes of ‘The Fast and the Furious 7’: Dominic Toretto’s crew admiring New York’s sight, the competition between Dominic Toretto and Brian O’Conner on the highway, as well as their happy moments spent with their families. As the sunset occurs, the two main characters speed their cars, to prove who is the best driver. Brian O’Conner is also shown with his family, on the seaside, while the crew admires his new status, symbolically justifying his absence from the next episodes of the series. He returned for the fans, at the start line, joining a fast and furious race with Dominic Toretto, but their paths separate on the highway.
He continues on a road that seems to dissipate into horizon line, as a symbol of his constant presence in the memory of those who appreciated the film.
‘See You Again’, released in March 2015, was created by the American rapper Wiz Khalifa and the upcoming pop singer Charlie Puth. The two artists were supported by Yaseen Zuberi, Andrew Cedar and DJ Frank E, previously writing songs for Toni Braxton, Nelly Furtado, Jason Derulo or Eminem. Dj Frank E is also the producer of the song, focusing on piano as able to suggest the artists’ feelings.
‘See You Again’, included in the soundtrack of ‘The Fast and the Furious 7′, follows the success obtained with Go Hard or Go Home’ by Wiz Khalifa, being a confirmation of the musical performance of Charlie Puth, after releasing his first song, ‘Marvin Gaye’.
The video of ‘See You Again’ was directed by Marc Klasfeld, collaborating with Robbie Williams (‘Go Gentle’), Katy Perry (‘Birthday’), David Guetta (‘Lovers on the Sun’) or Kelly Clarkson (‘Heartbeat Song’). It was released on 6 April 2015, featuring scenes from ‘The Fast and the Furious 7’.
